The short version
No account. No ads. No tracking. Your learning data stays on your device and is never sent to us. The only outside service involved is the app store (and RevenueCat) when you buy Pro.
What stays on your device
To work, the app stores your languages, chosen packs and level, your schedule (words per day, rotation, active hours), learning progress and review history, your streak, words you add yourself, and your preferences. This lives in the app's private storage and in the shared storage the widgets read, so your lock screen can show the right word. If you use the Android wallpaper mode, the photo you pick is processed on your device only. None of this is uploaded to us.
What we never collect
We don't ask for your name, email or phone number, and we don't collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifier. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases
Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. To confirm that your Pro access is active, we use RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from the store, plus basic technical data such as the app version and device type. This information is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. RevenueCat's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Notifications
The daily word notification is optional and off until you turn it on. It is scheduled locally on your device — there is no notification server, and you can switch it off anytime in Settings or in your phone settings.
Pronunciation
Words are read aloud with your device's built-in text-to-speech. The text is handled by your phone's operating system, not by us.
When you email us
If you write to support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
Website launch waitlist
If you join the launch waitlist on this website, we use your email address only to send you news about Lockling’s launch, and we delete it whenever you ask at support@lockling.app.
Children
The app doesn't collect personal data from anyone, including children. Purchases are handled by the store, including any parental controls you have set there.
Deleting your data
Settings → Reset all progress deletes your learning data right away. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google; if you'd like the anonymous RevenueCat record deleted too, email us and we'll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. If a change matters to how your data is handled, we'll tell you in the app first.
